  • Use the News: Use the advertisements and flyers from the newspaper to create a wardrobe of your choice. Cut out all the pieces of clothes you would need to dress yourself for various occasions. Glue them to a large piece of paper to display your fashions for a sport, a date, school, etc. Briefly describe the clothes or “look” you’re displaying for each occasion.

  • Ninth-century German soldiers often wore chain mail for protection. What do modern soldiers wear for protection? What kinds of cloth or special materials are used? Are special colors used for combat clothes? Research and report on clothes of the modern soldier.

  • What is the latest technology involving shoes? Work boots, running shoes, rock-climbing slippers, snowboard boots and even high-heeled shoes use special materials and unique designs to make them effective, comfortable and stylish. Choose a specific shoe to research and present with a report, poster or Web page.
