Activities
- Use the News: The Khmer invaded and took over rule of Angkor from the Funan people. Are there any conflicts in the world today that involve one country trying to overtake another country? Read the international news and summarize any articles of this type for the rest of the class. What countries are involved? Why is there a conflict? Is one side currently dominating the situation?
- The temple Angkor Wat is one the “Wonders of the Ancient World.” What other wonders are there? What makes them special? Posters or reports could be created displaying information about Angkor Wat and the other Wonders.
- Who has ruled Cambodia throughout the centuries? Make a timeline with information about the people who came into power over the years. The Funan and the Khmer will get you started with cultures to research. Who is currently in charge? What type of government do they have?
